Introduction to ShipExec Configuration Tool
The ShipExec Configuration Tool is installed as a part of the ShipExec Core installation process. Once the ShipExec Core and any adapters in the license are installed, the next step is getting the ShipExec System configured for use by opening the ShipExec Configuration Tool to configure the databases, internet proxy, and license for the system. To start the primary ShipExec Core application service, the databases and licenses need to be configured. ShipExec uses two databases for storing the configuration and transaction data. The ShipExec Configuration Tool is used to set the database connection strings for the Application database (AppDb) and Shipping over XML database (SoxDb). Once each database connection string is entered and the tested, the schema can be verified to ensure all the tables, stored procedures, and indices are on the version. If not up to date, the ShipExec Configuration Tool will add/update or delete the objects to ensure the system is ready. The proxy settings are used if the system is installed behind a firewall..
This tool should be used after installing the ShipExec Core and adapters to configure the databases, add the licenses, configure the proxy, and update the configuration. Then you can start the ShipExecWcfService.exe service. This tool should also be used after any ShipExec Core update to verify the database objects are current. If this is not done, the clients may not function.
The firewall may require credentials to allow access to the internet; however,if credentials are needed, then the proxy will need to be configured when an adapter needs to connect to the internet. ShipExec does not require that the user’s workstation have internet access unless the ShipExec Core is installed outside the company’s firewall.
The license consists of a License ID, password, and, License file to enable the entitlements for the different components and adapters.
The configuration section of the ShipExec Configuration Tool has two parts. One for updating the Adapter information and the other is ShipExec information. Both updates should be executed as part of the initial setup, however caution should be used when using these updates when the system is in use. See the ShipExec Configuration Tool Configuration section for more details on when to use these functions.
